Kamakura Ethical Lab Joins "Fair Trade Million Action Campaign 2025" to Promote Fair Trade Through Awareness Activities

Kamakura Ethical Lab (Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Co-representatives: Ms. Rika Sueyoshi, Mr. Tetsuji Inaba, Ms. Akiko Hirano), a fair trade town promotion organization in Kamakura City, will participate in the "Fair Trade Million Action Campaign 2025" organized by Fairtrade Label Japan, a certified NPO (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Chairperson: Mr. Kazuo Horiki).

This campaign is one of the largest domestic awareness-raising activities related to sustainability and fair trade, held annually during "Fair Trade Month" in May. In collaboration with companies, organizations, government agencies, restaurants, schools, and others nationwide, the campaign calls for the implementation of various "Fair Trade Actions."

During the campaign period (May 1st to 31st, 2025), actions such as purchasing fair trade products, posting on social media, and participating in events will be converted at a rate of 1 action = 1 yen and used to support developing countries. In the 2024 campaign, 188 organizations nationwide participated, achieving a total of 2,652,970 actions. Among these, Kamakura Ethical Lab contributed to the campaign by earning 1631 actions.

Kamakura Ethical Lab's Initiatives

To contribute to achieving the campaign's goal of "3 million actions," Kamakura Ethical Lab will work to increase the number of actions through the following initiatives:

• Selling "Onan Omubi" (rice balls) that use fair trade certified white sesame seeds (1 action for each sold).

• Offering menu suggestions using fair trade products and providing operational support for the "Otera Shokudo" (temple cafeteria), a community dining hall, on May 4th (Sunday).

• Exhibiting at the Kamando Market on May 18th (Saturday).
